Cause-Effect Essay

The positive effects of extracurricular activities on students

These days, a number of people frequently heard that there are many advantages of extracurricular activities on students. Students who actively joined extracurricular activities tend to have their successful career after graduating according to many statistic data. In general, every student has their prerequisite classes to get their good grade and successful graduating. Besides most of students’ are required to join at least one of extracurricular activities such as sports activities, painting, playing musical instruments, drama, religious club, and even nursing elderly people and caring children in day care center. The rationale behind of this is that students’ extracurricular activities improve students’ physical and mental health, social skills as well as developing their talents.
To begin with, most extracurricular activities play a pivotal role in promoting students’ physical and mental fitness. I wholeheartedly agree with the saying “A sound mind in a sound body.” A number of students’ have clearly demonstrated that a variety of extracurricular activities usually combining physical and mental activities, contribute to their body exercise – dramatically lower the chance of obesity-related illness such as young adults with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. At the same time noticeably get a chance to create by using their mental activities such as painting, sculpture, playing musical instruments, dancing, and acting in a drama. It can role in relaxing their tired and stressful mental health of their every day of competing class.
Moreover, involving students’ in extracurricular activities teaches them to be cooperative. In other word, by fostering students’ social skills is one of the advantages of extracurricular activities. The important reason is that group extracurricular activities such as sports team, school orchestra, drama team, and even student government require teamwork and collective effort. Therefore, students can have a valuable opportunity to learn how to collaborate with one another. The best example of this is a football team. Even though players have to do their best at their respective positions such as a quarterback, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, the team has to orchestrate teamwork by throwing and passing the ball, tackling opponent players, and even encouraging one another in order to lead the team to victory. This proves that extracurricular activities teach students the virtue of pulling together to achieve a common goal.
Finally, extracurricular activities help students developing their hidden talents. It is largely because a number of students who joined extracurricular activitiescan find their future career in the same field and in many studies indicated that several successful celebrities said that they found their career when they joined their extracurricular activities. In my personal experience, I joined a traveling club when I was high school student and it made me to carefully watch a number of architectures all around the places I traveled as well as helped me to decide as my future major.
In these regards, every student who joined extracurricular activities can get many advantages such as promoting students’ physical and mental fitness, developing their social skills, and finding their hidden talents. Plus students’ mental fitness from a healthy social relationship and physical well-being are the fundamental factors for a successful life of our students.
