Classification Essay

The three main programs of contemporary Architectures

Architecture has been a form of mixture of art, technology, and engineering for millennia. Through the years it has evolved to use cutting edge of architectural materials, tools, and systems. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine designing a building as a complexity of cultural activities without using computer technologies such as Auto-cad, three dimensional rendering programs, and estimation programs. These technologies helped a lot to make unrealistic shape and space to real. Modern architecture comes in a variety of forms. Still keeping some of its roots from ancient times such as Greek, and Rome, contemporary architecture can be classified in main three ways of programs: Residential, commercial, and cultural architecture.
Perhaps the best-known type of architecture is residential. This type of architecture generally has been designed for making human beings shelter to protect from dangerous natural surroundings in the wilderness. It was transformed in a variety of types such as mixed-use residential which is combining at least one other program and high-rise residential which is ranging from 30 stories to extremely super tall towers. A residential district is consist of a number of residential architectures originally was planned with a park district and school district to provide better environments to residents. Besides the codes for residential district is much stricter than other program’s district because it is no wonder this is the most basic form of our daily life.
Another type of architecture program is commercial. Ranging from office building to retail shops there are so many different kinds of programs in this type. In commercial, the most important factor is practical function for residents. So it has much more complicate systems such as sustainable energy efficiency, transformation, and parking system. It is literally focusing on practical purpose. Some people say that several land mark high-rise buildings play a pivotal role in representing and symbolizing a city. The best example of this is Willis tower and John Hancock tower in downtown Chicago as well as Empire States Building in New York. If someone ask you to draw the image of City of Chicago or New York, you might imagine the shape of these super towers.
Finally, there is cultural architecture. The owners of cultural architectures mainly are governments which include all public cultural institutions and municipal in local town. Private cultural facilities will be an exception. So a new project for cultural programs can have more enough budgets to experiment new design and allow to being creative results. For instance, if the cultural buildings happens to build in wealthy local institution, it could be accepted more options and architectural meanings for standing out their organization.
Whichever type it takes – residential, commercial, and cultural architecture as a form of programs ranks very high on most clients and public’s lists of favorite spaces. Still, it is interesting to note that different types of architecture have unique characteristics. Regardless of the types of architecture, it is safe to say that people appreciate the craft of architecture and the many chance of space that it provides.
